Kenset Basenjis

"Killer Pony"
by Mary Lou Kenworthy

About the book

"The Killer Pony" is a set in '50s Pennsylvania when the area, the pony and the characters were having 'growing pains'.  "Killer" was a mistreated and misunderstood pony that found his way into understanding hands and loving hearts.  In the beginning he was called 'Killer' for good reason; he would have killed a human if given the chance and was slated for 'the killer pen' (dog meat/glue) at auction.  Fortunately, Mr. Henderson saw his potential and took him home for his stable help to work with.  Through Amy Martin's patients and understanding he was groomed to reach his full potential as an equine athlete.

About the author

Although Mary Lou Kenworthy has had dogs all her life and bred Basenji for over 40 years, her first love was horses.  She broke, trained and raced Thoroughbreds, showed hunters, jumpers and pleasure horses, competed in endurance rides and bred half-bred heavyweight hunters.   In her youth, she enjoyed starting young horses under saddle and rehabilitating horses and ponies that had developed problems from improper handling.
